Adoption

Considering
adopting a child,
we're here to help

If we understand one thing, it’s what it means to be “expectant.” That goes beyond just our expectant parents. It also includes adoptive families who contact us for information, support, adoption counseling and placement services. Bringing home a new child is an exciting adventure!

Perhaps you’re considering adopting a child. Maybe you’ve narrowed it down to domestic adoption or maybe you don’t know where to start. Regardless, we’re here to help.

We understand that your first phone call can be intimidating. Please think of us as a safe, nurturing place to have your questions answered. Our desire is to share stories, address your concerns and help you discover whether adoption is the right fit for you—and whether we’re the best agency to assist you on that journey . We don’t see adoption as an “us-vs.-them” experience with the birth mother on one side and the adoptive parents on the other. Instead, we work together for the best interests of all involved.

Please note that we are only licensed to offer adoption services in the state of Tennessee, with our primary service area being Middle Tennessee.

How we work

Discovering the options

  • Domestic agency infant adoption
  • post-adoption services
  • Domestic independent adoption services

One-on-one counseling

We begin the process with a one-on-one meeting rather than a group gathering. We want to get to know you personally, and we want you to know us as we begin a partnership.

Home study groups

Miriam’s Promise offers ongoing Adoption 101 preparation classes that cover a wide variety of topics. These classes are led by trained professionals and are provided in a group setting with other adoptive parents who can offer support, understanding and shared experiences.

Home study

Our process involves opportunities for self-reflection, education and preparation for your family. We want potential parents to talk not just to us, but also to one another. We offer home study services for independent and domestic agency, including step-parent and embryo adoptions.

Adoption Options

Miriam’s Promise, a licensed, non-profit child-placing agency in Middle Tennessee, can walk with you every step of the way in domestic agency adoption. Parents wanting to adopt infants and children born in the United States can receive adoption education, adoption counseling, home studies, placement services and post-placement services…
